Artist's Comments

Designed and folded by me. Folded from one unsut square of Origamido paper. Folded July 2009. Designed in February of 2008.

Actually an older design I decided to pick up again because I liked it so much. The base is very unique as it allows for toes as well as spines on all 6 of the legs.

nice, how do you come up with the designs? do you plan out what you want to make before you start or just improvise till it looks like something?
:)

I had posted a few pages from my notebook showing a bit of how I go about designing stuff. page 1: [link] pages 2 and 3: [link]

but to answer your question, I purposefully set out set design a cockroach when I made this.

I wish they would make a game called Professor Layton and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button so I could finally find out why they decided to make that movie so long and boring.

ahhh nice, thanks :)

I do the odd bit of origami, but i can't find any books with the right difficulty level to get better xD, i think i'll need more knowledge of the bases and folds to start making my own stuff up :P

well, I'm about intermediat i would say, i can do all the simple designs, but can't do some of the more intricate ones, i've been using some quite old books that where my grandpa's by Robert harbin, and can do all of the designs in there, but i can't seem to find any books in my area which would challange me enough, they're all a bit easy.

I might recommend looking into getting some books by John Montroll, or Marc Kirschenbaum. They both make excellent diagrams that are very clear (especially montroll) and the models are not of ridiculous complexity either.

However, if you are looking for the ridiculously complex, Satoshi Kamiya does have a great book out as does Robert Lang(Origami insects 2)
